The diverse economic activities of the Muthoot Pappachan Group include Retail Financial Services, Hospitality, Real Estate, Automotive, Power Generation, and Health Care. At the same time, under the leadership of Johnie, the group is actively involved in fundamental social service, including – amongst others – children’s cleft surgery, blood donation, football academy and so on. Beyond business, the Johnie truly believes in the value of human capital. He is passionate about real Financial Inclusion and keenly pursues upliftment of economically deprived; changing lives of common man and helping them in making their dream come true.

Johnie is also the Chairman & Managing Director of Muthoot Fincorp Ltd (MFL), the flagship company of Muthoot Pappachan Group registered with the Reserve Bank of India. MFL is one of the biggest NBFCs in India and is Financial Services Super-House, with a network of over 3500 Branches across the Country. At the same time, Johnie truly believes, that the future efficacy & efficiency of businesses such as MFL and other businesses in the group, is in embracing new-age technology and leveraging it for customer-benefit. Under his leadership, the Group has been partnering with and investing in, new-age & tech-led startups with an eye on customer-centricity and the future.

Johnie is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School. Born on 7th June 1962, Johnie is married to Preethi, a successful entrepreneur herself, running one of the highest rated & ranked independent heritage restaurant, Villa Maya, among other ventures. The couple are blessed with a son and daughter. Johnie’s son, Thomas too, is actively involved in the business. Johnie is actively involved with various business platforms like CII and Kerala Management Association. He has also been recipient of several awards, including ‘Young Hotel Entrepreneur Award, 2006’ conferred by Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India and the ‘Business Man of the Year, 2009’, conferred by Trivandrum Management Association.

He is also a Director on various MPG companies, across varied business domains, including Hospitality, Microfinance, Affordable housing, Automotive retail, Real Estate and so on. Georgie has been hands-on with MPG’s business for over three (3) decades now. The three Promoters-Directors have worked as an team, with a ganbaru spirit, working tirelessly & zealously, to take the Muthoot Pappachan Group to such scale, diversity and heights.

Muthoot Fincorp Ltd (MFL), the flagship company of the Muthoot Pappachan Group, of which he is a Director, is one of the leading NBFCs in the Country registered with Reserve Bank of India and is a financial services super-house. It provides customer-centric specialized finance by way of Gold Loans, MSME Loans, Microfinance, Home Loans, Auto Loans, et. al., to the low-income customers who are largely unbanked. MFL has a network of close to 3600 Branches across the Country with an average walk-in of well over 75,000 customers per day, touching & transforming millions of lives.

Georgie’s initiatives are deeply rooted in the promise of empowering human ambition through innovative, technology-driven solutions which make substantial & sustainable difference in the lives of those at the bottom of the pyramid. Being humble and having a simple outlook, he always strives to provide staff-sensitive and customer-centric products & services which make a difference in the lives of people and equip them to take charge and realise their true potential. Georgie is also the Chairman of the Kerala Non-Banking Finance Companies Welfare Association, Kochi. He is also on the managing committees of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Kerala Branch and Equipment Leasing Association of India (ELAI), Chennai and represents the MPG at the Association of Gold Loan Companies.
